“A layman will no doubt find it hard to understand how pathological disorders of the body and mind can be eliminated by ‘mere’ words. He will feel that he is being asked to believe in magic.”

About Myself

I am a psychologist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist. My clinical journey began in Brazil, where I qualified with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and continued with a Master’s degree in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from University College Dublin (UCD). Over the years, I have worked with individuals navigating emotionally complex and transformative processes. Much of my clinical work has involved helping people who carry unresolved experiences from the past — experiences that continue to shape their lives in ways that are often unconscious.

Regular sessions with a psychotherapist or psychoanalyst can offer not only relief from symptoms, but the possibility of real and lasting change. Psychoanalytic work does not aim for quick fixes; it invites each person to engage more deeply with themselves, and through this process, open the path to new ways of living and relating.

Services

Individual Therapy

The sessions take place in a quiet, confidential setting in Dublin, where space is created for reflection and dialogue. This option may suit those who feel more grounded in a face-to-face encounter or who benefit from a consistent physical space.

Online Therapy

The meetings are conducted via Zoom video call and offer flexibility for those who travel frequently, live outside Dublin, or prefer the comfort of their own space. This format maintains the same therapeutic frame and confidentiality as in-person work.

Beginning psychotherapy often involves a mix of uncertainty and hope. If you’re thinking about starting this process, you’re welcome to book an initial consultation to see whether this space feels right for you.

FAQs

What is psychoanalytic psychotherapy?

Psychoanalysis is a theory and practice that recognizes the presence of the unconscious — the idea that many of our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are shaped by processes outside of our awareness. Why do we feel what we feel? Why do certain patterns repeat in our lives? How do we respond to relationships, conflict, or change?

In exploring these questions together, we open space for reflection, understanding, and transformation. This process can bring relief from anxiety, ease emotional suffering, and foster greater freedom in how we experience ourselves and others.

What kinds of psychological concerns have I worked with?

I have experience working with a wide range of psychological and emotional difficulties, including: anxiety disorders, depression, stress, grief and bereavement, psychosis, self-harm, sexual concerns, relationship and marital issues, panic attacks, obsessive thoughts, childhood trauma, experiences of sexual abuse, difficulties with anger, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and the emotional challenges related to immigration and cultural adaptation.

How does the first session work?

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I’ll explain how I work, we’ll talk about what brought you here, and go over practical details like scheduling, frequency, and fees.

If we decide to continue the process together, this meeting is already considered the first session.

How much does it cost?

Session fees are determined on a case-by-case basis, taking into account individual circumstances. As a general guideline, the average cost is €75 for online sessions and €90 for in-person sessions.

Will your insurance cover it?

Your insurance may cover part of the cost, but this depends on your provider and the type of plan you have. The best thing to do is to check with them directly to see what’s included.

Do I work with children or couples?

No, I currently work only with individual adults aged 18 and over.

How long are the sessions?

Session length may vary and can end at different moments, depending on the process. In psychoanalysis, the focus is not on the clock, but on what emerges in the session — it’s the work itself that sets the rhythm.

That said, I generally recommend that patients reserve up to 50 minutes for each session. Still, the work here is measured not by time, but by the session itself.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations for initial appointments made less than 48 hours in advance may be subject to the full session fee.

For ongoing sessions, cancellations or rescheduling must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled time. Late cancellations or missed sessions will be charged in full.

How often are the sessions?

The frequency of sessions depends on each individual case. Typically, we begin with one session per week. However, as the work develops, there may be times when meeting twice a week becomes clinically meaningful and beneficial to the process.
